Press Release

Reducing harm caused by smoking is the scientific principle upon which CoEHAR is based. Alternative and less harmful tools and products to conventional cigarettes and cigarette smoke exist. These range from electronic cigarettes, snus and heated tobacco products – they allow for a significant reduction of damage caused by smoking.

CoEHAR is the international Center of Excellence for the reduction of smoking damage established in 2018 within the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the University of Catania.

CoEHAR studies the factors that favor smoking addiction and identifies the most suitable tools for smoking cessation.

The Catania Conversation (CC) is multi-pronged international initiative to fill gaps in communication around Tobacco Harm Reduction (THR). It seeks to engage with a global community of journalists and opinion leaders, experts and lay people keen to understand and contribute to this conversation from lived and felt perspectives. Scientific experts will share information on a regular basis about THR.
